If you are new to copywriting, you are on the right page. Because I am about to show you some of the most important keywords to use in your copies.

Word Number #1: YOU

“You” is the most effective and persuasive word in your copywriting arsenal.

Why? Imagine you went out to eat with your friends. You ask a stranger to take a picture of you and your friends. He then takes a picture with your iPhone and when you turn around to look at the group photo… who do you notice first?

The answer is… YOU! (don’t lie to yourself if you said this is not true)

It is just human nature. The same goes for when you write to your audience. They are always going to look for themselves.

Thus, you need to write the word “You” as frequent as possible… give them the attention!

Here is an example of how Apple make use of this word:

Everyone knows about Apple and if you pay extra attention to their copies, you will realize that they never talked about how they have amazing technologies or the most top-notch software.

Instead, they focus on how their products can improve your life. It is all about YOU.

Notice how many times the word “You” appears in this one piece of marketing copy? Give it a read before moving on to the next important word.

Word Number #2: BECAUSE

The word “because” speaks to reasoning.

The way to use this word is, to use it to speak to results and help your prospect rationalize the offer.

To give you an idea, your prospect will always say this internally, “ I need this BECAUSE____.” Your job as a copywriter is to help to fill in this blank for them.

I need this because I want to lose weight.

I need this because I want to get better at writing copies.

I need this because I want to make more money.

Word Number #3: FREE

Who doesn’t like anything free?

In the eyes of consumers, there is no better value than free.

However, this is not about giving away freebies. This is about giving away something your viewers weren’t expecting.

Give them a good test of what the product/service offers (the freebies) and they will come back for the real deal. This is when you have successfully converted a prospect into a client.

Here is an example of how powerful the word “Free” can be:

Take a look at Amazon.

They offer free shipping, which causes sales to go up in every country… but France. France held up and charged $0.20 for each shipment…and they did not get the results as expected.

But once France removed the shipping charges, the sales went up again.
